HC Martin Hilton in action.

Head Coach Martin Hilton Steps Down

After a season for the record books Head Coach Martin Hilton has announced that he will be stepping down. At the team’s end of season awards, Coach Hilton made the announcement to the players and Phamily.

Martin’s reputation speaks for itself, defensive coordinator (now HC) for the Loughborough Students, GB Lions Seniors & Students DBs coach and last but no means least a 30-4 record as HC for the Phoenix over 3 seasons, with a final season finishing undefeated and Britbowl XXXI winners. Upon stepping down Martin told the team that although he’s stepping down as HC, he will still be around, stating that “I love this team, being part of this phamily, its special and I want to help it continue to grow and improve.”

Martin took the reins for the ‘Nix at a point where many around the league thought their days were numbered. Since then, alongside a hardworking coaching staff and committee the team has gone from strength to strength.

“Coach Hilton is one of the most genuine, dedicated and humble coaches in the country.” Club President James Hossack said, “He came on board when the club needed him most and he has been obviously integral to our success. The players, team, club and sport owes Martin a huge amount and we’re grateful for his commitment during his tenure. He’ll be sorely missed but we’re glad he’ll still be a part of the team in a new capacity.”

The Phoenix will look to have a new HC in place by the teams AGM in October. OTAs for returning and new players will be announced shortly after.

Once again, the Phoenix would like to thank coach Hilton for his dedication and the success he has brought the club.
