The Tamworth Phoenix are set to play their first home game of the 2016 season on Sunday (May 8th), when they host the Lancashire Wolverines at the Atherstone Sports Hub: CV9 1LX – 2.30pm KO, free entry.

Having begun the season with a 55-7 victory over the East Kibride Pirates, the Phoenix snapped their Premiership North division-rival’s eight-year regular season home winning streak. But the team will be looking to bring that winning start back home to Atherstone.

This Sunday’s matchup between two playoff hopefuls promises a keenly contested fixture. In the last game of the 2015 season at a rain soaked Atherstone Sports Hub, a 22-15 victory for the Phoenix secured a playoff place at the expense of the Wolverines.

For the Phoenix, the home-opener represents an opportunity to display progess made both on and off the field. Through the offseason, Phoenix committee, coaches and players have all been working hard in pursuit higher standards, the #R1SE.

“The drive of the Phoenix, it feels to me that it’s just about pulling people together under one banner and seeing what we can do. I’m glad to be a part of it.” Said Phoenix rookie Alasdair Jarvis, who recently won the 2016 British Universities American Football National Championship with the Birmingham University Lions.
